Music Maestros - live music for children using guitar accompaniment and percussion instruments

music maestros is a relaxed and fun introduction to music for babies & toddlers up to school age. It is run by Fawzia Topan and Tim Hodgson; a husband and wife team who moved to St Albans in March 2003 with their daughters, Safiya, who is now 7 years old and Sara, who is 5 years old. They now have a third daughter, Sahar, who is now 3 years old.

Shortly after moving to the area the concept for music maestros evolved. It became apparent that there would be an interest in a music group for parents and toddlers in which live music was played for children to got a 'hands-on' feel of a range of percussion instruments with different sounds and shapes.

More recently Tim became aware that there is a shortage of CD's providing good quality music for children. With this in mind he has produced a professionally recorded children's music CD of songs for you and your child to sing along to. It will be loved by all the family and add an extra something special to car journeys and any family occasion.

During sessions songs, nursery rhymes and stories will come alive through the use of a wide range of quality percussion instruments and live guitar accompaniment.

Sessions are split according to age:

Baby Session - 6mths to 2yrs
Toddler+ Session - 2yrs and above

We currently operate sessions in St Albans, Redbourn and Welwyn. We have also, very successfully, provided entertainment for children's parties and are happy to discuss possible bookings with anyone who might be interested.

Tim, who trained at the Guildford School of Acting in Musical Theatre for 3 years, leads the sessions. He is also works as part of the therapy programme at Meadow Wood School in Bushey, a school for children with special needs.

Fawzia, who is a qualified teacher and has been teaching since 1997, plays an integral part in the planning and resourcing of the sessions. She is the person behind all the ideas for the stories and which songs to sing and how to present them.
